This shop front signage and pillars on Amiens Street in Dublin is one of Laurel Bank Joinery Shop Fronts more recent projects.
The original shop front signage and pillars were rotten to the point where a new shop front was the most cost effective option in the long run. The owner wanted to retain the look of the original shop front while upgrading the material to hardwood.
Using hardwood in a shop front or exterior joinery is an absolute neccessity to ensure a long lasting product and structural integrity.
Hardwood fluted pillars and corbels were made to match the originals, while modifications were made to some moldings to prevent water build up which would lead to rot.
Concrete base moulds were also added to further increase the life of the shop front as it raises the pillars from the ground and provides a hard wearing base in the case of any knocks the shop front may get.
The shop front signage is made from marine grade plywood which is designed especially for wet conditions. The existing shop front sign lettering was still in good condition so it was cleaned re-used on the new shop front signage.
Replacing your existing rotting shop front with a hardwood shop front will not only ensure the entrance to your business not only looks good but outlasts other shop fronts which willl have rotted in the interim.
